Reuben Gann, PhD

I'm Reuben. A developer and architect based in the DC area.

Currently looking for a new role after being an on-site contractor with CBP for nearly a decade in ML, physics, and software development.

About

I've served as chief architect and technical lead of large contracts within CBP. In recent roles, I worked across architecture, implementation, data pipelines, AI/ML-supporting systems, and platform modernization. I work comfortably with developers, analysts, scientists, and other subject matter experts, and I focus on building software that is reliable, maintainable, and well tested.

Skills I use on a daily basis:

  • Software development across frontend, backend, and data-intensive systems

  • Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, SQL, Django, FastAPI, and .NET

  • API development and full-stack web application development

  • PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Redshift/Spectrum, AWS S3, and AWS SQS

  • Unit, integration, and end-to-end testing

  • CI/CD, Docker, Git, and performance tuning

  • Legacy modernization, system design, and requirements gathering

  • Technical leadership and mentoring developers

  • PKI/OAuth, Okta, and RBAC

  • AI-augmented development using Cursor and Codex
